Internet Presentation RSVP by May 22nd

May 28, 2024, 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Internet Safety Presentation for Adults – May 28 Dinner 5:30 pm & Presentation 6pm

We are pleased to partner with PTSA and have Dr. Stacy Cecchet talk about internet safety. This presentation was very insightful last year, and many parents commented on how appreciative they were for the information and conversation. She is adjusting the content a bit this year, so feel free to come even if you attended last year.

We will serve dinner at 5:30, and the presentation and childcare will begin at 6. Your child must be school age (in Kindergarten or above) to attend child care. If your child is younger, it is your choice to bring them into the presentation, but please be aware that the content, language, videos, etc. are for an adult audience.

Please be sure to RSVP so that we can have an accurate count for dinner and child care. RSVPs needed by May 22: Internet Safety Presentation RSVP link

See Dr. Stacy’s bio in Ms. Sarah’s newsletter on 5/3/24 and https://obsidianfs.com/about/

We are so thankful she is a parent at JSIS, and willing to share this knowledge with all of us!

Agenda:

Intro: Internet safety starts before your kids even know how to access the internet. It starts with creating a space at home where kids feel comfortable talking to their parents about their bodies and body safety, they aren’t shamed, and they aren’t harshly punished for making mistakes. This then allows parents to talk about the difference between safe grown ups and tricky people. Once kids can spot a tricky person in their community, then we teach them how to spot them online.

What is internet safety?

What are the risks of having our children online?

How can we help keep out kids safe?

What do you do if your child has been victimized online? I’ll share resources and the steps to navigate this.
